JARIT has been organising volunteer work camps and responsible tourism trips for more than a decade with the aim of raising awareness and giving people the opportunity to come into contact with the reality of life in other countries.
Responsible Tourism aims to promote the development of local communities and encourage a form of traveling focused on living closely and respect of their culture and environment. We work with Associations and Collectives that manage these resources as a vehicle for the sustainable development of their communities.
Our organized guided trip will show you morocco in a way like never before, focusing on their cultures and traditions, and living with local comunities, discovering their secrets, culture and traditions.
The price of this trip is 450€ + flight tickets to Morocco (you must purchase them separately). You can check euros in your local currency here.
Due to current covid19 restrictions, in order to get inside the kingdom of Morocco, you must have a valid COVID Passport that is accepted by the Moroccan authorities. Please check any additional restrictions your government may have in visiting Morocco.

DIfferent accomodations will be in provided in hotels, hostels, rural hostels and even local homestays in the cities we will visit. While traveling in the desert, we will stay in rural hostels (Hassi Labiad) and local haimas (Khamlia).
Hassi Labiad: Riad Les Flamants Roses hostels, Kasbah des Dunes, one night in haima in the dunes.
Chefchaouen: Auberge Assaida Al Horra and Hostal Mauritania, located in the heart of the medina of Chefchaouen.
Azrou: Auberge Du Dernier Lion de L'atlas.
Khamlia: Gnaoua Association, in haimas.
Due to the pandemic situation we are currently experiencing, the group will be divided into two subgroups: Group A and Group B. Likewise, there will be one person every two seats in any bus trips to comply with health measures.
IMPORTANT: Covid-19 measures may change depending on the evolution of the pandemic!
You can arrive at any time and leave all your luggage at the hotel. You will have plenty of time during the day to buy last minute things, go for a walk or take care of the entry to the country at your leisure.
Remember to find out about the procedures to be followed to obtain a visa, which may vary depending on your country of origin.
Today, after breakfast, we will discover the city of Marrakech, which always enchants visitors with the bright colours of its markets where fabrics of all kinds are sold and by the frenzy and warmth of its inhabitants. We will have lunch and dinner in the city. At the end of our tour we will return to the hotel for the night.
First, we will travel through the breathtaking scenery of the High Atlas Mountains through the Berber town of Taddert and over the 2260m high Tizi Tichka. We will stop at the famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, 30 kilometres from Ouarzazate. The Kasbah is one of the most fascinating red earth castles lining the ancient road of the Kasbahs, and is a UNESCO world heritage site.
Group A: Early in the morning, we will arrive at our destination, where we will be welcomed with a typical Berber breakfast at the Hassi Labiad guesthouse. This will be our first contact with the culture that we will get to know closely over the next few days.
This first day in Hassi Labiad will be full of activities so that we can get to know the Berber community living in this area and interact with them. To begin with, we will have a guided tour of the village and its surroundings: the palm grove, the dunes and the water wells of this area. After this introduction to this area of southern Morocco, we will have the opportunity to get to know the nomadic culture at first hand through its ethnological museum.
The Izourane women's association specialising in handicrafts and the production of couscous is located on the premises of this museum.
These women will share their sustainable economy project with us and offer us a welcome meal as a form of Berber hospitality. As part of our intercultural experience, we will spend the evening with these women enjoying the cultural richness of such an encounter.
After dinner, we will have free time to explore Hassi Labiad, drink tea with dates, stroll through the palm grove, sleep, etc.
Group B
Early in the morning, we will arrive at our destination, where we will be welcomed with a typical Berber breakfast at the Bivouac Gnaoua Guesthouse. This will be our first contact with the culture that we will get to know closely during the next few days.
This first day in Khamlia will be full of activities so that we can get to know the Gnaoua community that lives in this area and interact with them. To begin with, we will have a guided tour of the village and its surroundings: the music house, the dunes and the water wells of this area. After this introduction to this area of southern Morocco, we will have the opportunity to get to know the looms of the women's association and how they work.
Group A
After breakfast at the hostel, we will return to the Izourane association. At the association's premises, the women will prepare a couscous workshop and will teach us how to use henna to make tattoos, as well as the importance of its properties.
Group B
Breakfast at the Bivouac, return to the Gnaoua association. At the association's premises, they are preparing a couscous workshop and will show us how to use henna to make tattoos, as well as the importance of its properties.
To finish soaking up the culture that surrounds us, both groups get ready to live a unique experience in the interior of the dunes that surround us, the Erg Chebbi.
In the mid-afternoon we will get on our camels, and everything will be ready for an hour and a half ride through the dunes of the Erg Chebbi.
Our destination: a camp of haimas located in an oasis where we will arrive to have dinner and spend a lively evening around the fire and the local population.
Once the night has passed, it is time to enjoy the beautiful sunrise in the desert. It is then time to pack up and make our way back to the hostel to shower, wash up, have breakfast and rest for a while before continuing with the next day.
We will wake up in the hostel and enjoy a typical Berber breakfast in Hassi with the women of the association. We will have lunch with the women and then we will have various activities and a tour of the village during the afternoon.
On our last day in Hassi Labiad, we will alternate activities with time for rest and recreation. We will complement the workshops of the previous days by learning how to make Moroccan bread and learning about Amazigh writing, a Berber language defended and preserved by this population that is fighting for its official recognition.
Group B will head to Khamlia to spend the night in the haimas, while group A will stay at the Hassi-Labiad hostel.
Group A

In the association's facilities, they prepare a couscous workshop and show us how to use henna to make tattoos, as well as the importance of its properties.To finish soaking up the culture that surrounds us, both groups prepare to live a unique experience in the interior of the dunes that surround us, the Erg Chebbi.In the afternoon, whoever wishes, and we will ride a dromedary and everything will be ready for a journey of one hour and a half to the Erg Chebbi, where we will be able to see the dunes of the Erg Chebbi.
The next morning, we will have breakfast at our hostels and head north, our first stop being Rissani, about half an hour from Hassi Labiad.
Rissani has a unique history and the best traditional market in the country. It is one of the liveliest and most characterful villages in the desert. Its remote origins and traditions tell of caravans, traders and stories of nomads who stopped in Rissani to trade gold, carpets and palmfruits on their travels and continue their journey through the desert.
We will visit the market, a place full of life and traditions, where we will have a couple of hours free to stroll around the stalls and get to know the typical products of the area. After this experience we will head for Khamelia, a really special place, since its inhabitants are direct descendants of the slaves of Sudan.
Culturally, their tradition is not as tied as to our western culture: Arab and Berber are unique cultures deeply rooted into their customs and traditions.
We will visit a local organization we have partnered with in the past while developing sustainable projects in the past. We will be introduced to the Gnaoua culture. We will have tea and enjoy a Gnaoua music show.
We will go to Khamlia for lunch. After spending the afternoon there, each group will go to their respective hostels to spend the night.
We will continue our way to Dades Gorge via Ouarzazate. "The Hollywood of Africa". On through "The Route of the Thousand Kasbahs" - the fascinating "sand castles". We will continue on our journey to stop at Kalaat Mgouna, "the rose" of the city of Roses and known for its annual festival during the May harvest of roses. We will then continue into the heart of the Dades Gorge.
We have breakfast in Ouarzazate, known as the "Gateway to the desert". In the past the city was a small crossing point for African traders to reach the northern cities of Morocco and Europe. We visit the medina and leave for Marrakech where we will have time to do some final shopping and have dinner in the square.

Jarit is a Spanish NGO from Valencia, Spain. Our goal is to help migrants and refugees in our city and give them support. We built a network of aid and we provide legal, social, psychological and work assistance to people in need.
Through language lessons, we empower migrants to have a better understanding of Spanish culture and we help them in the process of adapting to our culture. We help them and their families by providing legal assistance and social support they can count on. Our main activities include classes, lectures and courses in several languages, as well as IT and social work.
As part of our goal. We organize socially responsable trips to places where we have developed past projects, to raise awareness and to live tourism in a more sustainable and socially responsible way.
